Privacy Policy

At FindElbil, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains in plain language exactly what data we collect, why we do it, and what happens to it. No hidden surprises.

1. Who we are

FindElbil is a Danish app developed by FindElbil. We are the data controller for the personal data processed through the app. You can contact us at privacy@findelbil.dk.

2. Data we collect when you sign up

When you create a profile, we collect the following:

Full name
Username (optional, you decide)
Email address
Password (stored encrypted — we can never see it)
Year of birth (to verify you are 18+)
Profile picture (optional — otherwise we generate a colored avatar)

If you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address from Apple. We never receive your Apple password.

3. Data you share yourself

Everything below is voluntary and only shared because you actively choose to:

Your car (make, model, variant, year)
Reviews with ratings (comfort, range, charging, service, infotainment)
Posts with text, images, and polls
Comments and reactions on other users' content
Range data (km, driving type, season, temperature)
Collections of cars you have saved
Cars you follow
Bio and city on your profile

4. Data we collect automatically

To give you a better experience, we automatically collect:

Which cars you view and search for (for "recent searches" and recommendations)
Your platform (iOS/Android)
Login times (for the streak feature)
Session data (to keep you logged in for 7 days)

We do NOT collect your GPS location, your contacts, call history, or any other data from your phone.

5. Biometric login (Face ID / fingerprint)

If you enable biometric login, we store your login credentials locally on your device in an encrypted keychain (Secure Store). This data never leaves your phone and is not sent to our servers.

6. What we use your data for

To create and maintain your account
To display your content to other users
To send you a confirmation email when you sign up
To generate your driver profile (based on your reviews, posts, and activity)
To recommend cars you might be interested in
To show trending and popular cars
To calculate real-world range figures based on user data

7. Anonymized data and third parties

We NEVER sell your personal information (name, email, profile data) to anyone.

However, we reserve the right to sell and share anonymized and aggregated data with third parties. This means data where it is impossible to identify you as a person. Examples:

Aggregated range data broken down by car model, season, and driving type

This data may be used by car manufacturers, dealers, insurance companies, researchers, and media to better understand the EV market. You can opt out of this at any time by contacting us.

8. Third-party services we use

We use the following services to operate the app:

Supabase (database and file storage) — data hosted in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany)
Resend (email) — for confirmation and verification emails
Apple Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with Apple
Expo (push notifications) — if you enable notifications

9. How long we store your data

We store your data as long as you have an active account. If you delete your account, we delete all your personal data within 30 days. Anonymized data that has already been aggregated cannot be traced back to you and is therefore not deleted.

10. Your rights (GDPR)

As a user in the EU, you have the following rights:

Right of access — you can request a copy of all your data
Right to rectification — you can correct inaccurate information
Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete everything
Right to data portability — you can receive your data in a readable format
Right to object — you can opt out of automated data processing
Right to withdraw consent — at any time

11. Children

FindElbil is not intended for persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we discover that a user is under 18, we will delete the account.

12. Changes

We may update this policy. In the event of significant changes, we will notify you in the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
